Volvo P1800S restoration
autotreasures | June 26, 2019
We are currently restoring a 1966 left hand drive Volvo P1800S for a customer that imported the car from California.
The car is very solid underneath and most of the panels are straight but there had been minor front impact at some point requiring rectification.
We have stripped all the external trim, removed the interior, removed the engine and ancillaries and stripped all old paint off, exposing some of the original blue paint. A check with the ever efficient Volvo archives confirmed the car was originally light blue (code 89) with black interior and dark grey carpets. The customer has confirmed original specification as his choice and the car has been resprayed.
We have fitted new clutch, release bearing, electronic ignition, plugs, HT leads, water pump, manifold, re-painted the block and reinstalled the engine and ancillaries and the car is now running again. The non-original dashboard and instruments have now been replaced with the correct parts.
The next phase is trimming, with new carpets, headlining, dashboard top and refitting of windscreens with new seals and trims.
